National eHealth week 2019
21 to 26 January throughout the Netherlands
Digital support in healthcare (eHealth) assists people to more easily gain access to care and increased insights into their own health. Good examples of digital support are video calling with your healthcare provider, renewing prescriptions online, exercise with a training app or following the development of a baby during a pregnancy while the gynaecologist watches from the hospital in real-time. Yet many Dutch people still do not know enough about what eHealth can do for them.
Therefore, from 21 to 26 January 2019, ECP | Platform for the Information Society organised the third edition of the national eHealth week together with its partners the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, ZonMw, Zorgverzekeraars Nederland, and Health~Holland. The aim of the week was to connect as many people as possible with eHealth throughout the Netherlands and let them experience the possibilities.
A total of 276 eHealth events or activities were organised ranging from the prominent opening of the week at the ICT&health conference with Minister Bruno Bruins and Secretary General Erik Gerritsen to local events at hospitals or regional innovation hubs. Together with the ZorgInnovatie community, Health~Holland participated in the regional heats of National Healthcare Innovation Prize 2019. The finalists of the Innovation Prize will soon be published at ZorgInnovatie.nl.

Rare Disease Symposium
Apr
Rare Disease Symposium
18 April, Het Oude Magazijn, Amersfoort
A better life for patients with a rare disease in 2030. That is something we all want. That is something we urgently need each other for.
The life sciences sector is keeping its promise. Thanks to new treatment methods, patients with rare diseases are gaining a new lease of life. Despite the successes, how we develop these innovations and apply them in practice leaves a lot to be desired on all fronts. The development trajectory of new drugs is too long, too risky and too costly. Furthermore, the system for registration and declaration is too cumbersome. These drawbacks are extinguishing the ambition of offering every patient an effective treatment. How do we ensure that successful innovations can reach their goal and the patient?
The second edition of the Rare Disease Symposium on Thursday 18 April 2019 focuses on breaking the status quo. With all stakeholders, we will look for win-win situations in the development of orphan drugs and access to these. Our passionate speakers will briefly and convincingly present their solution for a future in which health benefits, innovation and affordability go hand in hand. After these presentations there will be plenty of time for informed discussion. The day will end with a rapid-fire debate. Lively exchanges guaranteed! In short, you should not miss the Rare Disease Symposium.
